In the diary – Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin Retrospective at the Design Museum 1st May — 9th July.

Eagerly awaited and highly anticipated by the fashion cognoscenti and shoe-lovers alike, Christian Louboutin?s first retrospective opens at the Design Museum in Shad Thames on 1st May. The exhibition showcases Louboutin?s career to date, paying tribute to his iconic designs which have become synonymous with elegance, glamour, and power, drawing fans from across the spectrum of celebrities, movie stars, politicians and royalty.

Celebrating all Louboutin?s designs throughout the first 20 years of his career from his statement high heels, to studded high topped sneakers, visitors will also be able to see the infamous Fetish collections which were exhibited in Paris in 2007 in collaboration with photographer David Lynch.

Offering something for everyone, the exhibition also makes a technical exploration of the design process from the initial sketch through construction, prototype and final production, and makes reference to the statement design of Louboutin?s retail stores.

Our particular tip, and a work of art in itself, the accompanying monologue is an absolute must-have for all lovers of his shoes. With a forward by John Malkovich and with a stunning foldout cover and pop up, the book is beautifully presented and an object to treasure. An in depth interview offers a rare and personal insight into the inspirations of travel, art, music hall and film that lie behind his creative genius – a simply beautiful book, to hold in permanent residence on the coffee table.
