In the diary – Basel

Coined the ?Olympics of the Art World?, the internationally renowned art show on everyone?s lips at the moment is Basel.

Founded by gallerists in the 70s, Art Basel has been supporting the role that galleries play in the nurturing of artists, and the development and promotion of visual arts. Showing work of the highest merit and attracting the world’s leading gallerists and collectors over the past 40 years is what has earned Art Basel its worldwide reputation today.

The anchor of Art Basel is its Galleries sector, where over 200 of the world’s leading galleries of modern and contemporary art present 21st century artwork from over 4,000 artists including paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, prints, photography, video and digital art. Art Basel also hosts a series of conversations and talks on various subjects including, the collection and exhibition of art, understanding art from a geographical and historical perspective, and timely topics concerning the contemporary art scene.

Art Basel takes place between 13 June and 16 June 2013 in Basel, Switzerland with a range of ticket options available. For more information, to book your place or to view the full show guide, visit the Art Basel website.
