In the cellar – Haut Peyrous, Graves 2009

CHATEAU HAUT PEYROUS, RETOUR DE PALOMBIERES, GRAVES 2009.

Chateau Haut Peyrous is located in the Graves appellation of Bordeaux and is owned by Marc Darroze, from the highly reputable Darroze family, which for three generations has been dividing its time and passions between restaurants and Armagnac. Marc?s father Francis? restaurant is held in high regard across all of France, while his sister, Hélène Darroze runs a restaurant at the Connaught Hotel in Mayfair, London which has been awarded two Michelin rosettes.

Marc initially ventured into the field to source new Armagnacs for the Darroze?s various eateries, but in 2007 he decided to devote his time to viniculture, prompting the purchase of this estate.

Similar to every project a member of the Darroze family has taken on, Marc cultivates his vines in a search for perfection, aiming to produce wines of the utmost quality that contain personality and represent the region?s wonderful terroir.

In recent years, Marc has made a concentrated effort to manage his estate in as organic a manner as possible, and as a result, his vintages from 2012 onwards shall be rendered ?organic?.

The 2009 Haut Peyrous displays notes of smoked game, herbs, black truffles, roasted meats, cassis and black cherries; making it a vin de plaisir for sure!
